Forming healthy habits
at an early age.
We understand that teaching children good oral hygiene habits is key to maintaining a healthy smile for life. Our friendly dentists at Stanley Street Dental will examine your child’s mouth whilst maintaining a relaxed environment where the whole family will feel at ease.
A recent study has shown that 1 in 3 Australian children aged between five and six have oral decay in their baby teeth, and 40% of children aged 12-14 have decay in their permanent teeth1. These statistics highlight the urgent need for our society to prioritise children’s oral health from an early age. Poor dental health in the baby teeth often translates to issues in the permanent dentition including the need for advanced orthodontics as well as fillings and other issues. It also creates bad memories for your child at the dentist, leading them to be a non-regular attender and thus leading to issues throughout their life.
Regular dental checkups are necessary to treat any damage to the teeth as early as possible to prevent long term complications. At your child’s dental check up, our dentists will teach the child how to properly care for their teeth, as well as recommending lifestyle changes to maintain a healthy smile. We recommend bringing in young children at the end of your dental appointment for a ride in the chair and to have their first dental appointment around age 3.
Stanley Street Dental proudly accepts the Medicare Child’s Dental Benefit Scheme, allowing eligible families to receive bulk billed dental care for their children.
